Well for this guy it wasn't the DSLR he was using!

I can understand wanting something light and easy to carry.
But then to have a DSLR and a backpack as well?

Maybe the dSLR images belong to an employer, while the compact is his own?

Or maybe, like you, he doesn't have a wide enough lens for his SLR.

I'm guessing wfooshee is correct about him wanting a wider lens. What was the camera, anyway? Did you see? I always carry a point-and-shoot with an Eye-Fi card that I use for all my Facebook and Instagram posts. I'm sure people wonder why I'm using the P&S when I have a DSLR hanging around my neck, too
