My name is Phill. I am really new (like really new) to photography. I recently discovered my passion for taking photos when I got the chance to take photos of my friends hitting a step up jump using a Cannon Reble, now I am hooked. So now I have to decide what type of SLR camera that I want to get any advice? The only camera that I have used is the Cannon, I liked it allot (found it pretty user friendly). I would like to get something that is durable because it is going to be with me on many MTB rides as well as 4X4 trail rides. A rather quick rate of fire would be nice as well. I will post some of my work up as soon as I figure out how to do it. Thanx for any advice eh

Welcome to Photography Review. You can find a ton of help finding a camera by looking through the reviews and as far as help with your shots you might want to post in the Sports forums if that is what you are into. The second shot is very good you are already looking at good angles.
If you already own a Canon you might look at something in your budget but the secret to great shots is a good fast lens. Maybe a nice fast prime like a 50mm 1.8. I think they are reasonably priced.

Welcome to the site, lucky13! We've got a bunch of mountain bike photographers on the site. I think Greg is right. Your best bet is to post on the Sports Photography forum and make sure to also check the Digital SLRs forum. Tell us what you plan to do with your camera and what your budget is and we'll get you pointed in the right direction. You should also check out our Top Five Beginner Digital SLRs Guide. It's got some great camera options for beginners on a budget.

Thanx for the advice guys. My plan is to spend arroune 800 (I am fairly loose on the budget tho) on a starter camera. So far I am kinda leaning toward the Cannon Reble T2i but that could change once I check out the other threads that you have directed me to. I think out of all the shots that I took that day that one turned out the best (ate allot of dirt to get it tho). Thanx again for the advice.

Welcome to the Forum Neighbor. Heck I was just in Milton yesterday =)

I think the other guys have already given you the best advice they can. Choosing a camera is more about how you feel about the camera and the ease of use for you than anything else in my mind. You have to like the way it feels in your hand as well as the features it offers to be sure it is right for you. Choosing a system with and SLR is a personal one... just look and see which system will fit your budget down the road as well as right now.
