Help! Need a pro photo lab!

Help! After moving to the Adirondacks, I've not been able to locate a good pro photo lab. All this fantastic opportunity and no labs? There are several very good photographers up here but they either have their own set up aren't giving up their info. I thought for sure there would be one in Plattsburgh. One fellow did mention Concord Photo Lab....in New Hampshire. If anyone has any info....pllllease!?
    Thanks,
    Faith

    Hello Faith

I have a friend who lives in the Adirondacks. Beautiful country up there!

I don't know the area, but have you tried using "yellow pages" online? That's usually a good way to find services. I'm surprised and more than a little dismayed that the local photographers couldn't help you out. That diminishes the spirit of photography a little, imo.

Another alternative would be to use mail-order services for developing and internet services for making prints.

Good luck! Let us know how you do!

I've heard great things said about prolabexpress and their pebble textures.
Unfortunately, they don't ship to the UK and I wish they did :cryin:

perhaps this is a sign to take out a small business loan and open your own photo lab. wouldnt that be cool? thats what i would love to do.

I've never been to the Adirondacks so I'm a big help.

With the web and digital photography, I'll bet that mailorder labs are getting bigger than ever. And with this, local pro labs are getting fewer and farther between. FedEx will take your film (if applicable) anywhere, but there's a big amount of trust (and a side order of anxiety) when the box of film leaves your hands.

No matter where you live in the US you can have some really good lab service. Many labs offer online uploading (ftp or roes) free shipping to & from, etc...

    White House - whcc.com
    H&H
    Collages.net

The above three labs service many pro wedding & portrait photog, and I haven't heard anything bad about them.

    Good luck.

I recommend Modernage, but they are in NYC, so you'd still have to ship.

Wow...thanks for all the great feedback!

The online yellow pages provided some labs in Albany...don't know any of them but might take a chance next time I'm down that way. It's about 2 1/2 hours from here (Keene Valley).
NYC has some great labs, I'm sure. The one in Concord, NH does nice work. Fed Ex is prompt and usually careful,,,,,I'm just really nervous (my nature) to ship some things.

I WOULD LOVE to have my own darkroom...used to..and I miss it.

Walterrick...where is your friend in the ADKs? Please put them in touch w/me.

    Thank you all!
    Faith
