You must have been in the bathroom when I phoned!

I had a great time! I didn't take as many photos as I thought I would, but Holgas just aren't waterproof... and how many photo ops are there when you're quasi-comatose in a hottub on the Lido deck with a brightly colored rum drink in your hand, and the hot poolboy/waiters standing by to supply you with more?!?!?!?!?!?

Kidding. I actually managed to shoot at least 5 rolls with my Holga, some of them on the catamaran in Grand Cayman. I had a disposable underwater camera as well, and I'll see if any of the shots of the stingrays are good enough to post.

And can I say, it totally STUNK to come back to a cold New York?!?!? And no, 2 days later, I do NOT have my land legs back!!!

Did you get to do any diving or snorkeling while you were down there?

    Swimming with the Stingrays!

I'm not PADI certified, but I do snorkel. When you're on a cruise, you have to do everything on shore at NY pace because if you don't get back to the ship in time, seeya! (This was my first cruise. I'll not make a habit of it, but I did have a blast!) So anyway - we had booked an excursion in advance. We were on a catamaran, and went out to "Stingray City" and fed the stingrays. It was SO unbelievably cool. Then from there, we went to another area where we snorkeled.

I just dropped off my underwater camera (disposable, I'm not hardcore) for processing, and I ordered a CD with it - so I will post anything decent soon.

    Glad you're back! =)

Wow! I wonder if going on a cruise is better than international travel? My travel experience is limited to Great Britain and China (too young and naive to take any photos ), not exactly warm and sunny. The photos from your Holga's should put a rather surrealistic/Andy Warhol spin on things. Much needed in the case of luxury cruises I think.

    And she brags!

Hot sun and cabana boys! Did you post this to taunt us?

Sounds like you had a great time. Jason and I are looking at doing something like that this year. I'd have a hard time leaving the kids at home, but if we went, that's where they'd be.

    Not necessarily better...

Not better, but different. I like to GET there and go, generally. With a cruise, the getting there is the draw. But I had fun.... though it won't be my choice every time!

And I was exaggerating about the cabana boys. Alas, the wait staff onboard was dressed decidedly non-scandalously.

But Rambo, our tubing guide in Jamaica made up for it.

geesh call me I'll help you thru it---better yet send Larry and I in your place and we'll tell you what it's like...

Megan I'm so jealous----- watching stingrays swim and feeding them is so amazing. They are amazing creatures. VA Beach had a tank where you could feed them and touch them but they were little ones (like no more than 3 feet across)....jealous(hate you) jealous (hate you) jealous....can't wait to see your pics

    Not watching them, but....

Don't hate me because I went on a well-deserved vacation!

We didn't just watch the stingrays, we got in the water with them. It was wild! They rub up against your legs like cats. I held one and kissed one! I'm picking up the photos and cd's today, and will post whatever images are a step beyond snapshot, if there are any, soon.

    Re: Hello from Grand Cayman

AHHHHH - I come to this photography site, and I find a discussion of my favorite vacation - Cruising!
And wasn't the snorkelling in Grand cayman off the Catamaran fantastic? It's been about 2 years since I've been there, and I miss it! My best photos have been taken on cruises - except the ones that came at the end of my cruise around Italy last year - when I took a hot air balloon over Tuscany. I doubt much can beat that.

I hope you'll post the cruise photos here. It helps keep me warm here on the Island.
