Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself as a new, but old member of this site. To clarify that sentence, back about five years ago, when this site was first starting up, I was an active member, but due to other obligations, I visited the site less and less until the point that I was not active anymore. (If you go to the Glossary, you will see that Amy K and I were the two people responsible for putting it together, and I have just been informed by Photo-John that it probably requires some updating. I wonder, was that a hint?
)
The other night I made a decision I would rejoin and become as active as I can. I contacted Photo-John and said hello, and we have exchanged a few emails and he suggested I stop into this thread and say hello.
I would call myself an expert photographer, but by NO means a professional photographer. I have sold a few photos in my life, but by all means, photography does not pay my bills. I hope to contribute where I can, and hope to learn what I can.
I currently live in TN; however, sometime within the next 11 months I will be moving back to MI; something I’m not happy with, but where the job goes, I go (at least for four more years, until I retire out west).
I use only Nikon cameras and lenses, and have been very satisfied with Nikon equipment. I only photograph nature, and I’m determined to keep it that way. Love to travel, particularly in the desert regions out west, but have been known to hike into the woods in the eastern states to get a good photo.
I have some other interests besides photography and belong to quite a few other online, non-photographic related websites ranging from Jeeps to Corvettes, from Tactical Handgun Shooting (Heckler and Koch/SIG) to Criminal Justice.
Guess I have said enough for this introduction, so before I bore everyone I’ll stop writing. However, before going, what is this phrase I see “Nikon Samurai?” If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. Until the next time, ya’ll have a great day.
Doug
PS This site has come a long way in the past years, and I congratulate Photo-John on how this site has grown.![]()
