Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day everyone...

"We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies..."

"Hatred and bitterness can never cure the disease of fear; only love can do that. Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it it. Hatred darkens life; love illumines it..."

A friend of mine does work for a photographer in the area, mainly scanning and slideshow creation. I got to see some of his photos from one of the times King came to Chicago. It was amazing the way the color corrected slides brought the time to life as if it was earlier this week. It was as if I could reach out and tough history.

Very moving quotes you chose Steve.

Very nice Steve. I'm listening to the Wisconsn Tribute and Ceremony for Martin Luther King, Jr. right now on Wisconsin Public Radio. They will be playing his "I Have A Dream" speach in it's entirety at 3:00. If anyone is interested, you can listen online at www.wpr.org.

Thanks. While the lionshare of Dr. King's work was aimed at addressing racial strife in the US, the words of his that I'm most drawn to today are those dealing with world peace.

Quotes like these help me as I try to make sense of global situations like the Middle East...
