Is the 28-70 a good lens for portraits? I have a 500 mm mirror lens and need to get a good and inexpensive tripod to support it. I hope to try it out in Colorado in May.

    Re: Half a Block

    Hi Sandra.
I don't really do portraits. I use that 28-70mm lens with a .43x aux yielding the effect of an 18mm wide angle lens. On a DX camera, the 70mm lens would be like a 105mm lens on a full frame camera. That would be good for portraits.
