It's Fleetweek in New York beginning today with a parade of ships on the Hudson which can be seen from many areas in NY and NJ. It goes until June 2nd. There are ship tours, flyovers, fireworks, exhibitions, games with the service men and women - and many other events that you can check out on the website link below. The events are held in different areas in New York - many of which are on and/or around the Intrepid.
I attend almost every year - sometimes twice during the week. It is a great FUN time - and a time to honor our men and women from every branch of the service - and veterans.
New York really celebrates during this week in many and various ways - street fairs, festivals, photo events......No matter where you go in Manhatten there are service men and women walking the streets and just having a good time. I would encourage anyone who can go to give it a shot! Many photo ops. The photos below are from Fleetweek of past years.......

One of my favorite photos - I love her smile! A bit soft because I was running backwards while they were walking! And they walk fast!
They were actually posing for another tourist - so I got in from the side.
