    Got the new gear.... WOW!

Well it finally arrived, I tried it out quick and all I can say is WOW! The 1D MKII N compared to the 1D is amazing enough, but the file size really great. I really like the menu - you can see it when it's sunny too! The ability to zoom in on shots when reviewing is GREAT!

The 28-300mm USM IS is really neat, seems it will be more than adequate for my needs. I'll find out tonight at a soccer game.

70-200 f2.8 USM IS - don't really need to say anything here, it's all been said before.

580EX flash... well, if you have a MKII or MKII N it's a great flash. I did a test shooting continuosly and the thing fired 7 times before needing a recharge.... the dog hates me now

Well later tonight I'll post some pictures... gotta run to Indy now.

Can't wait to go to the game tonight.

Yeah... no zoom on preview is a hassle isn't it ;)

I really can live without 8 FPS , so I am thinking of the 20D's replacement...... when ever that may be?

    Post Reviews!

Please post reviews for all your new stuff, as soon as you feel ready. We especially need reviews for the Mark II N and the 580 flash.

I'm psyched for you. My 1D and 10D are really starting to seem a little long-in-the-tooth. Im bummed at how happy people are with the new Mark II N display. I was thinking about trying to score a used Mark II. But the new LCD sounds really good. Oh well. Got to be careful with my money. It's hard to justify a new camera when the ones I have keep delivering.

I can do that Photo John. Too tired to try and upload anything now, figured I'd just check in before checking out for the night.

Whew, I need more 1GB cards.....this MKII N rips em off fast and furious!

Congrats on the new camera JS. I haven't been keeping up on equipment lately since my Mk II, and the office 10D's and D60 still meet our needs, but what is the difference between the Mk II and the Mk II N? Guess I'll have to do some websearching tonight on it before people start thinking I'm a lazy noob ;)
Yeah, these beasties eat 1 GB cards like I munch junk food. I keep four 1 GB SD's, and 3 1 GB CF cards handy most of the time with the Mk II.

    Played With It

Forrest brought his 1D Mark II N in today. That LCD really is beautiful. It's nice to see Canon stepping up, since Nikon has had such nice displays for a long time now. The zoom capability of the LCD is really impressive, too. I feel so outdated with my 4 year old 1D, now ;)

Re: Got the new gear.... WOW!

    Thanks everyone! it is AWESOME!

PJ - Yes, the display is the biggest change, the fact you can zoom in almost 15X's is really great, and will save many a shooter headache and reshoots.

    Lionhart:

not sure of all the differences between the MKII and MKII N but these are or may be some of them:
1: The LCD is larger and has a zoom that can be set to AF points
2: The AF is faster - I know it's faster than my orginal 1D using the same lenses
3: 48 continuous frames up from 40 on MKII
4: Picture styles... havn't played much with that yet... but it has monochrome and filter effects too.

Most changes appear to be program changes other than the LCD and faster AF.

    Frank,

    You are a MEAN man!!!!

That is the stuff dreams are made of buddy!

    Good for you!

I'd be happy with a D70 (and a SB800, a new computer, and the other necessary periphials), but from what I've read about the D2X, it is the digital equivalent of what the F5 was to film cameras: head and shoulders above the competition. It makes me drool just thinking about getting a D2X. Maybe if I win the lottery...

    I'm VERY envious....
