    Goodbye Mother

Shot at the military funeral of a dear friend of mine. This is her daughter receiving the flag from the honor guard detail commander. I deployed and served with both the deceased and her husband, I wouldn't have dreamed about pulling out a camera at the service, her husband asked me to. She was only 46, a terrible shock and loss.

This is an intensely private and upsetting moment and you photographed it well. However, as a mark of respect to the deceased I would suggest that this picture should not appear in a critique forum, or any photography forum for that matter.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

Marc, this is a heart wrenching moment here and as Tom stated a very personal one. I do understand that you were asked to photograph this, and thats fine.
Are you looking for critique on this image? ...

If your looking to share this moment as a sort of tribute to this family and our veterans thats fine but the Viewfinder forum would be the way to go. I could move it there on your ok.
I would also hope that you have permission and/or know the family would be ok with that. Unfortunately images get swiped off the web and can wind up anywhere....

Thanks for sharing, and also thank you for your service to our country.
