    Going Dslr

    Hi;
    I've had my OM-G for 22yrs., never had a prob. but love the ease of Digi, I picked up a kodak 7630 to use for e-bay in a pinch, now I never use my OM and am considering a full move to DSLR, any pros & cons:idea: , any suggestions for cameras, Olympus? any others? I guess now would be the time to make a brand change since none of my equipment is interchangeable anyway, olympus has and still is very good to me, but I don't know much about digi. and I'm spoiled by Olympus it has been a real workhorse, and if the new ones are as good as the old ones, I would not think twice about going with them again Thanks for the help! :thumbsup:

    If you were use to a film SLR than the move to A DSLR isn't going to be very traumatic for you. As to brand it is all personal preference. I used Nikon film cameras for years before going digital so it was an easy choice for me. I would go to a local camera store and just hold and fool around with a few before you make a decision. See which one feels the best to you and which have controls that seem to fit you. Find one that has the features you want and then see if it fits your price range. Before you buy check in with the brand forum your looking at and ask a few question specific to it. You aren't going to regret going digital but take the time to find the one that fits you the best.
    Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Snap Happy, I agree with Old Timer, if you have been a film photographer for that many years then the move to digital will be relatively painless. I say relatively because there is a bit of a learning curve, white balance, post-processing, etc., but you will learn quickly I am sure. I was a film photo guy for more years than I care to admit to and about a year or so back, when I had been retired for a while, I decided to move to digital (new hobby). Just love the new world. I bought my second DSLR (Canon EOS 5D) a few months ago and it's great.

    I was a Canon film guy and so the move to Canon DSLR was easy, but do your research, look at reviews on the net, talk to people who are digital, talk to people at your local camera stores, get a feel for what you need depending on the type of photography you are doing or intend to do. Most of all, don't let some sales guy talk you into the latest and greatest. A lot of what you will move to will depend on how much money ($$) you have to invest in the equipment, or want to invest in it - that's a significant consideration. My $0.02, hope this helps. :thumbsup:

    Cheers,

    Only thing I might add to the fine advice above is to ignore someone that tells you only one brand is worth buying. They all have advantages and disadvantages.
    Think about what your main focus will be and look for the one that best fits that need.
