    Gent - Belgium

A few shots from my trip to Gent today. It's a lovely old city.

Nice, we drove by last weekend but didn't stop - we were on a mission
Out Thursday, successfully hunted race drivers at Hockenheim, and then returned home on Monday.

Thanks for all your comments, you're right, there are so many places and so much history, sometimes too many choices. I'm heading down south of Brussels today to see what I find, I'll post if I get something nice.

Smart Wombat, if you're ever in the vicinity let me know, saw quite a few UK plates when I was near Calais, must be fun driving on the right side of the car on the other side of the road!

Belgium has some lovely places to visit - the beer ain't bad either!!!!

Funny thing: ever since the day I first went to Belgium (Bruges around ten years ago) I eat my fries with mayo, Belgian style!

Mike, you're not wrong about that, let me know if you come back for another visit. Here's one more shot, same bridge different people. I also have a couple of extra shots in my user gallery one pano as well.

The canals are always worth the time to stop and look if not photograph! I particularly like the bike and reflections in the first photograph.

So did you travel out into the nearby countryside? I've always been intrigued by the cobblestone roads that have been around for, well, a real long time.

    Good shootin'

those are amazing! look like postcards or pictures you could use to advertise for the city. I've never been there, but those photos definitely made me want to go now!

Dr G, Thanks and yes I did make it out to the country side, actually I live in the country side, south of Gent about 1 hour. Those cobblestone roads can shake your car to peices, nice but not nice to drive on for to long.

Chris, thanks I'm glad you like the shots and yes you'll have to see this place some time and many others here in Belgium. Cheers S
