Full Moon tonight, and it's gonna be close

I heard on the radio this morning that the full moon tomorrow night, is going to be the closest to the earth that is has been all year. They said it is going to be 14% closer than in the past, due to the eliptical path of the moon.

So get out those long lenses (or the short ones), and take some pics of the moon tonight!!

Going to be overcast here. We have been getting some much needed rain this week.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I've been batting about 10% on the astrophotography opportunities lately. I've missed a couple of meteor showers, the last two lunar eclipses (and the one before that I only got about half before the clouds moved in).

Here in North Carolina, it is raining. 90% chance of rain today, 80% Friday and Saturday. Typical...

Hope you guys get some great shots!

Weather has been perfect in my area the last couple of nights, but I haven't taken any moon shots yet. The weather is looking good tonight, so I'm planning on shootin the moon.

It's been raining here. I think we're in for a dry spell but I will not have the time to take any photo's as I have 9 photos to mat and frame tonight.

Besides the full moon brings out all the crazies......

Re: Full Moon tonight, and it's gonna be close

That's funny, I happened to catch the moon rising just yesterday evening. It did look purdy. I almost pulled the camera out but decided to let it go. Maybe I'l stalk it this afternoon.

Just so everyone knows, the full moon always rises right around sunset. Maybe a little before, maybe a little after. So get set up a little early. Look in the opposite direction of the setting sun - as the sun dips in the west you'll see the full moon rising in the east.

    Pretty stuff

Oh man, it figures - first rain we've had in months (they've been counting the days of useable water we have left), and I can't get moon pics. But that's OK. I'd rather have the water. I can hear the trees and grass slurping up the wetness.

Not as sharp as I would like to see it, but here's one from this evening. Wish I could have gotten the sky's blue color to show up without blowing out the moon... This is full frame.

Re: Full Moon tonight, and it's gonna be close

Here's a 6 minute exposure from later on tonight using the light from the full moon. Only edit done was to correct the distortion from the wide angle lens pointing up, which made me have to crop the photo.
