Added framing to some shots

I added some framing to some of the post I've put on here I like how it makes some of the photos pop.

I find the second one the least distracting. To me the purpose of a frame is to direct the eye back into the picture and not let it out. It is another element of the photograph. (I do not know how to do this very well and therefore do not use frames.) The frames on the first and third pull my eye right out of the photo. - TF

I like frames myself. I am still trying to figure out how to make and apply different frames in Photoshop. Learning which ones to use that compliment the picture just takes practice. To me it isn't any different than learning any other techniques in photography because a lot of it is basically just trial and error to see what looks good and what doesn't. I myself plan on placing frames on my photos and hope to improve as time goes on, Jeff

I love playing with framing/edges/borders/matting...A great time killer in the winter.

Hi Raven and Jeff,
Boy, this topic sure died quick. I guess frames is not a popular topic around here.

For basic frames, I think using the techniques photo-framers' use when matting a photo works great.
I usually select no more than two colors. One dark and one medium.

I select those colors using the eye dropper in PS.
I prefer the outside border always be the darker one. -Bob

I'm really not to crazy about any of the frames offered with either version of PSP I use, they all seem kinda "hokey" but I have had some success with stacking multiple borders to achieve a framed effect:
