I've had the opportunity to play with a new 30mm (19mm equivalent) fisheye for my Mamiya and here's some of what I've got.

This is a terrible thread! I just spent ALL my money this past year (my 65th) on a lens. So seeing these pictures is not good for me because I won't be able to get another lens for a looooooong time.

Hey Liz,

You can get a fishey pretty cheap on ebay. That's where I got mine for my EOS system. It's nothing special, but it works. I don't think I would pay much more for one than I did, since the effect can get pretty old, pretty fast, but it is nice to have when you want it.

But then again, if you don't want one...

You actually shot that great image above with a "cheap" fisheye? Wow! That's really impressive.

I'd love a fisheye........but I know I wouldn't use it often enough to warrant buying one. I'm lucky I'm eating these days. I had to sell 2 lenses and some other equipment - along with a few (birthday) "gifts" (last year) from friends to get my last lens (24-105).

Does that lens you linked to meter correctly? Forgive my ignorance, but that seems to be a T-mount lens with the eos mount already there, and I haven't got a clue ;)

Hey Paul,

This lens is a fully manual setup and it is mounted to the camera with a T-mount. I do use the in camera meter with this lens, but it's not connected to any of the electronic features of the camera. Since the light is coming thru the lens, the meter is reading it, but you have to set everything manually. Sorry if my explanation is adding to your confusion. Let me know if there is anything else I can do a poor job of explaining. If you would like to see some pics of the lens, and T-mount, let me know and I'll post some.

Yes, I set the aperture with the ring on the lens, and focus manually. I use manual mode when using this lens.

Hey guys,

The fisheye lens in my shots I bought used off of Ebay as well. I got it for about $180 for my Mamiya. At 19mm (equiv) it's not as "distorted" as the wider ones. But it still gives me the effect I want and is TONS of fun to play with When I have tons of money I'll buy the Mamiya 16mm 2.8. Until then, I thoroughly enjoy using this one.
