    First try with window light.

This is my first try at any kind or portrait. Did'nt do anything except catch my Grandaughter watching tv on the bed. No posing (except for the last one which is out of
focus), and no photoshop. I used window light and proped up a piece of cardboard with some gold foil on it for the second one.
She still had not combed her hair or washed the orange juice off her
    lips.

Really nice. I think the spontaneous moments are some of the best. As a photog with a wife and grandson who don't like to be photographed, I often get those kind of shots. Sometimes they can be priceless. Doesn't hurt that she's a real cutie too!

BM, seeing how you're using available light for these, I though a forum other than Studio Lighting would be more appropriate. You didn't specifically ask for feedback, so I put it here in Viewfinder...

bm, nice shots, but next time turn her more towards the window if possible so you can get the catchlights in the eyes.

Any of these are worth framing. Instant family treasures I say.

Makes me want to take pictures of my kid but he rarely cooperates nowadays.

    Keep shooting and sharing BM!

Da nada. Hey, it's not always obvious which is the best forum to post in. Besides, if everyone posted in the right place all the time, I wouldn't have anything to do...

Re: First try with window light.

You might want to try a different window, or this one at a different time of day. If you don't have the sun shining in the window (which it looks like you do) you'll get a much less contrasty shot. I usually pick a window that's bright, but doesn't have the sun shining right in it. Most people recommend a north facing window, but you can use any, you just have to watch out for the bright sunlight.

All that aside, cute shots of a cute kid!
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

if you do have sun shining in the window, throw a sheet over it to diffuse the light and soften it.

very cute little girl! I like the last one with her resting on her hands.

Thank you livin, and adina for the suggestions. I will try both this weekend if the sun comes out (it is supposed to rain all weekend). Also Photo Girl, I also think #3 was the
best. It was out of focus but she looked pretty cute. The hard part is to get her to stand still.
