A few more from Yellowstone

Again, using Rosemary's Baby, not my usual array of plastic and cardboard cameras.
Tomorrow or this weekend I should have scans of some Holga and pinhole work!
Until then.... (sorry, they are a bit lo-res. After tonight, they will be higher.)
This post: I can't decide between the horizontal or vertical trees-against-sky shot at the Continental Divide. I also have a horizontal where the right side is more even without the almost-blown out area, but I think it makes it boring. ::shrugs:: As for the sunset - I think part of the top should be cropped off? Hm....

The first is a thermal pool - or fumarole? - near Old Faithful. Eh, pretty standard shot.
The second is after Old Faithful erupted and was still steaming. The sky was so dramatic that I thought this shot was better than the shots I got of the actual eruption.

oooohh the sunset one---I agree about the crop---more impact---- the Old faithful one would be beautiful in BW---play with levels and get yummy midtones and and some good contrats make the smoke and clouds really pop... more more....;D

Intriguing images. The ones of the dead tree line are interesting because a couple years ago when I went to Yosemite a similar thing could be seen. Dead trees upon dead trees for acres and acres. I guess there was a fire and after that some beetle came around and basically attacked the vurnerable trees and killed them off.

The Sunset_dramatic cloud shot was best but there was too much foreground with insufficient detail in it. I would suggest crop and bringing out more detail in the foreground.

Yeah, it was a bit of a grab - I was trying to get the dramatic sky but all these evil cars kept going by and messing up my shot! And as we all know, sunsets are elusive creatures, so this was the best I could get in the 30 seconds I had before it was all gone/5 seconds between cars and motorcycles. I do have another shot with more detail in the foreground, but less dramatic sky. No matter - this was just a big experiment playing nature photographer and to see what I could get, as this is not really the type of work I generally do!

Hm, well, it's better to do with the channel mixer, but I prefer to keep it color.
I'm not one to fuss around with stuff... if it's not good as I shot it, it's just not good, and ain't worth the fuss to try to "fix" or "save." But that's just my own purist approach...
