    Feeling overwhelmed...

I got back from my vacation at 2:00 Tuesday morning after an 18+ hour drive. I saw lots of cool things and took 1700+ photos in the week or so that I was gone. Now I have the overwhelming task of going thru all those photos and trying to decide what to do with all of them. 1300 or so are digital, and the rest are slides (velvia 50 and Provia 100). After an initial viewing of everything, the slides shot with my old AE-1 look better to me than the digital photos shot with my DRebel. I wish I would have discovered slides years ago! In the process of burning the digitals to a DVD now so I can post a few. The slides will have to wait till I can find a resonable place to get them scanned. Hopefully I will have something to post before too long. I also have a couple hours of video to edit and turn into a DVD. I guess it's back to reality for me.

    Ah,

Post-trip time is horible. Unpacking, sifting through hundreds (in your case thousands) of pictures and getting use to the 'real' world. That being said, I do have a trip on monday, so I'll be saying the same when I get back Welcome back and hope the merge into reality isn't too harsh on you!

    400 slides??

You just MIGHT want to invest in your own slide scanner. :P

I have been giving that idea some pretty serious thought. It would be the most economical thing to do at this point I believe, but the time involved with scanning is the only thing I'm not looking forward to. :s

Most modren scanners have a slide/negative attachment on it.

Yeah, I usually shoot three rolls of film per PYPS weekend, this one coming up may be more...

    Re: Feeling overwhelmed...

I've got that coming up - leaving tonight for a road trip. But I'll try not to think about that part now... I'll look for some shots when I get back.

Suggestion: I thought about getting a new slide scanner and wanted to see what the one I have is worth. Completed auctions on ebay show it at under $100 with the accessories (SCSI card, film carriers). It's an Acer 2720S which doesn't have ICE so you'll learn about dust and film but there is a WinXP driver you can get from their site. It's 2700dpi and I've gotten some nice 8x10's from it. Can't beat it for the money - just a suggestion. I was sorry (but not too surprised) to see what it's worth but it might work out to your advantage. Think I'm gonna hold off for awhile though.

Geez! Now I don't feel so bad shooting five or six rolls on a camping trip, or at an airshow or a wedding.

Just take them one image at a time buddy. You'll get through it...eventually.

A suggestion for future "need slides scanned" endevours is DEVELOPE ONLY/ NO CUT

MOST labs can scan a whole roll at a time and even print your E6 film a roll at a time. That alone would save you a bunch of $$ for scanning services. After you have them scanned/ printed you can mount them(have them mounted) or cut into film strips and archive that way
