    Extended Vacation

Well tonight just about 11pm students at one area high school got an extended vacation and I got some late night action. Police responding to a burglar alarm at a school found a fire instead! Yup, the burglar alarm went off long before the fire alarm and there wasn't a break-in. The fire was contained to one classroom, however over half the school has smoke damage A few students showed up and weren't happy to find out their holiday vacation was extended, probably because they will have to make up the missed time.
They had around 12 pumpers and 5 ladder trucks 4 ambulances and 2 medics at the scene. Even IFD responded with two pumpers and a ladder.
To make the night really interesting though, my Jeep broke down just as I got to the towns only red light Afterwards I discovered it wasn't a radiator hose but either a cracked block or rusted freeze plug. A deputy working the corner helped push the thing off the road so fire trucks could get through. Two passed me while I sat at the light. Then afterwards one of the local officers drove me 13 miles home. Tomorrow I have to get my truck and trailer to haul it home :mad2: Oh well.... I have another motor if I need it.

    Re: Extended Vacation

    Now that's excitement!

Tomorrow is our first day of school. I'll cry myself to sleep if vacation gets extended. :cryin: I'm getting some bon bons, a novel, ice tea and kicking back by the pool to celebrate their departure.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

    Re: Extended Vacation

I just now got the Jeep home and on the way found out the school is closed for the next 3 days as they have to replace all the carpet due to smoke and water damage.... carpet? we never had carpet in school! Kids are too spoiled now, carpet, AC and heat that works in a school never had that stuff! One school had heat, turned to lowest setting it was 90 degrees when it was 10 below outside you wanted air conditioning you opened the windows and turned on a fan....
