Explain your login name

Great thread! I've been asked this question a lot too.

My handle stems from many years ago when a kid in our church gave me a video game to play on my computer. Can't remember the name of the game, but it was fun. You could travel to different worlds, different levels, blow up protecting spaceships and stuff like that. When I quit the first game mid way it asked me to save it with a screen handle. The blowing up of spaceships reminded me of shrapnel flying everywhere, so I was trying to find something to rhyme with it or sound close to it and came up with "Schrack." I thought, "Cool." Since then it has evolved to Schrackman. So yeah, my inspiration came from a stupid computer game. LOL

I use my login name for lots of things but it is actually the number plate on my car... Some people call me Jas anyway. Mainly my husband. JAS are the initials of my name...
It's funny how we think up names. Same are classics.

Axle was a nickname I got while working at McDonalds, since their were two employees with the name Alex, I got Axle, the other we called Captain Nemo. I think I got the better name.

I spell it Axle to differentiate between myself and Axel Rose or Axel from Organization XIII & Kingdom Hearts.

Plus you can rearrange the letters to spell my first name, Alex.

Probably obvious since I changed my avatar image. It dawned on me that some newer photographers may have never even used one :eek6: . Tried to combine a little bit of my personality with something photo-related from my era.

Anyway, before she died she told me why she gave me my name.
In 1964/1965, she watched something called "Peyton Place" and there was a character on there called Allison played by Mia Farrow. Why she chose to spell my name with one "L" I don't know and never will

I chose mine because it is the sonic equivalence to a photograph, in my mind at least. A reverberation is an echo. It is a sound that continues in time after the original sound has stopped.
I was in a tourist shop on the 16th street mall in Denver Colorado and saw postcards that were obviuosly made from glass plates whose subjects were indians. I looked at these images and could feel these people. Their souls reverberated through the years, I felt I was meeting them or at least getting a sense of them at the moment the plate was exposed. The strange thing about photographs I guess, is how long some of them last. Reverberations do not last as long. Perhaps because photographs are made from light, which just seems older and more constant than sound, to my mind at least.

Wanted a unique name for online gaming, looked around my immediate surroundings, and there was a sticker for the Poison Center on the corner of my monitor, the old mascot, Mr. Yuk, was featured on the sticker.

Simple enough.

Mine is from my days of online gaming - the WsW was our clan name for unreal tournament (Wikid Sick Warriors) and the Wyatt Earp comes from one of my favorite movies of all time "Tombstone" - so my name in the clan was the same as it is here and I use it for everything now since I don't have to worry about that username being taken

Living in Western PA, I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic; even before I started shooting races way back when, I was always aware that DIRT was for RACING, asphalt was for getting there! And the freak, well, that sort of comes from a hodge-podge of things, from being a hippie freak back in the day, to slowly growing into a Jesus Freak, to the Western PA general meaning of totally obsessed fan (of the Steelers, dirt track racing, and Jesus)

Mine was given to me by a fellow Air Force officer. We were playing a game of touch football. I was a receiver and he was covering me. He told me not to bother coming off the line. I went long and fast, left him in the dust, and caught the ball for a touchdown. He nicknamed me Speed and it stuck. He got it from the movie Top Gun (which we had all gone to see just a few days before).

"I feel the need, the need for Speed!"

I ran track in high school and college, and did triathlons while in the Air Force (and a few after I got out). I've flown supersonic jets, driven Mustangs and Corvettes (my favorite muscle cars) and various motorcycles. Somehow the nickname just seemed to fit.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my time in missiles as well. I launched a Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg AFB in CA to the Kwajelein Missile Range in the Marshall Islands. The R.V.'s come in at 14,600 MPH. We were like Domino's - we deliver in 30 minutes or less, or the next one's free and piping hot!

Seven years in the Air Force, where I flew jets, did a stint in Disaster Preparedness, and most of my time was spent in missiles. I pulled 193 alerts UNDER North Dakota.

hmmm, I guess becuase it combines tow of my favorite things (other than photography of course) yoga, and biking. I ride mainly bmx and used to ride singlespeeds a lot so I added the extra "S" for singlespeed in namaste and there you go.

I was nicknamed "deep diveress" by a friend after he listened to me talk about my latest scuba dive in Monterey. I dropped the deep part because I don't usually like to go too deep, although I have been down to 137ft.
