Ever dream you were taking pictures?

So in my dream last night I was on a road and the sun was setting - the golden hour. There were some flowers blooming, and a red (?!) sunflower bowing down over them, and the light was oh-so-perfect and glowy. So I'm laying on the road trying to get the shot and hoping to not get run over, and I can't ge the shot. All of a sudden the light is gone, and I'm frustrated. so I walk around the side of the road trying to get *some* sort of shot, then come back, and there's scaffolding all around the flowers - I couldn't get a thing if I tried.

Darn construction! It was such a good shot! Anyone know how to upload from dreams?!

Re: Ever dream you were taking pictures?

I had a photo nightmare last night. I dreamed colleague at a newspaper destroyed my favorite lens and camera and wouldn't admit he did it. And then he refused to pay to replace it. I so desperately wanted to wake up...

    In best Austrian accent:

Zhe flower represents zour feminity azh a voman. Zhe camera iz zyour tool of creation. Zhe colour red represents anger, sexuality, und passion. Ze setting sun represents zhe beauty zhat is god or life. Zhe scaffolding represents zhe constructions of men or society. Zyou are so trying hard to "capture" zhe essence of your vomanhood but zhe constructions are in zour way. If only zyou could see zhe simple way iz to valk around zhe scaffolding and capture zhe flower zyourself, zhe frustration zyou are experiencing shall dizappear!

There, how's that for Freud 101?

I have had photography dreams, too, and they're usually around frustration or losing gear. No super model shoots yet

    Mine are much weirder...

Nope, don't have shooting dreams, but I do have PHOTOSHOP dreams. And they're weird...

Not that I have them a lot, but once in a while (when I've been putting in long hours at the computer working on difficult images).

It's usually when I have trouble sleeping because of stress. In the dream, I'm out in the "real world", but using giant pull-down menus and photoshop filters and tools on scenes that I'm actually seeing outside.

And I start freaking out because I can't get the scene to look right, or I forget if I "saved" or I feel that I can't get the scene back to the way it was or sometimes that I'm going to lose the scene the way I've "edited" it. Stuff like that. Sort of mildly disturbing dreams as my mind rehashes stressful problems I had with my work when I was awake.

Uh, anyone else dream stuff like that? It's perfectly normal now, isn't it?!?

    Er, someone??? PLEASE????

I ahve started photographing and then it usually turn into a horror style flick---and my camera gets banged or dropped to pulp while I'm running away from killers!???

my dreams tend to be dark and creepy ---glad I don't remember most of them

Hope the Austrian couselorcuts the bill in half for the bad accent

Oh! I can totally relate! When I worked at the Service Bureau, I would dream in Quark! Layers, picture windows, loading fonts, but not *doing* it, I was *part* of it in an indescribable way. Like the software was the room, and not a physical room. Weird. Matrix. Freaky.

The only dreams I have had that involved something I enjoy doing were the ones about mountain biking, which as some of you know compelled me to recreate said dreams as photographs...
    Does that count?

Knew I wasn't the only freakazoid here...

I think for me, the reason is I struggle much more with computers and especially photoshop than I do with shooting. My shooting, even with digital, is very simple and intuative. It's mostly about what I see and connecting with my subjects. I shoot manual, and the equipment aspect is minor and seldom problematic.

OTOH, my pc workflow with digtial imagery is very complex and often a struggle to get things perfect (not that they ever are, heh heh). There are many more things that can go wrong, and certainly much more to worry about and to be stressed about.

My image-editing problems tend to stay on my mind longer, and I suppose that makes them more likely to be part of my dreams... :eek6:

    Strange

...as I struggle with the equipment. I'm fine outdoors for the most part, but when it comes to anything more complicated requiring adjustments - well, I'm just used to the Minolta X-370 I'd been using since 1983 that was like an extension of my body. It's hard to get used to this new Borg technology, darn nanoprobes are prickly....
Not sure how long you've been using Photoshop, but heck - I learned on 3.0, and even before that, had used Chameleon in college. (That's going waaaaay back.) So while I'm pretty comfortable with the computer end, it's the camera end I want to see evaporated when the transporter goes wonky. (Okay, waaay too many geek references contained herewith.) Too bad there's not a green smiley with Spock ears!

Hmmm... I didn't know you lived in NM? This is a normal occurrence, you better get used to it!

On a more serious note, there's an add campaign around here with red sunflowers and daisies. They're towering over fields of flowers via billboards. Ahhh, and the golden light here.

Maybe you visited us in your dreams?

In my dreams the images and shoot come out perfect - it's like the camera and weather gods read my mind! No need for PS and instant beautiful prints!

Re: Ever dream you were taking pictures?

Huh! Interesting! The closest I've been to NM recently is Wyoming! Not so close....
I must have been travelling in my dreams. Still need to figure out where the port is to stick in the connector and dowload the images..... Oh, to be Borg.
