Question Ever do a photography book?

    Hello again PR.com!
Long time forum member, who hasn't posted anything in who knows how long.....
So I am working on a book with blurb.com of the fly fishing photographs that I have been doing for the past few years, that I have shot with my Holga cameras.
So I was wondering if any one else has done a book through blurb and what your experience was with it.
    Thanks!

Re: Ever do a photography book?

I did a book of text and photos. It was based on about 15 short stories written by my father, so I did this as a surprise for his birthday. I found Blurb to be excellent to deal with and the software very easy to use. Adding the photos was simple, but I did find adding pages of text a little more difficult. Keeping all the spacing right was not easy, but if a mistake was obvious the software would pick it up and let you know.

My best advise is to preview the book very carefully and then do it again, as once ordered you are stuck with what you have done. Quality of the final book was superb and I did not upgrade the paper or anything like that.

Re: Ever do a photography book?

I'm playing with a Blurb book right now, just to have one for myself. I just think it would be ultracool to have a coffee-table book with my own stuff in it! If I like it, I plan to do one for my son, with stuff I do with his kids.

Like the post before mine, I find the software is very easy to use, although not so straightforward to customize. It would be great if I could just draw a box where I want to place a piece of text, but no, I have to do that in the edit page-layout mode (where I don't see the picture,) then use the layout to build the page, and if I want to change where something is, I have to edit the layout again. That part is cumbersome.

If you're good with Adobe suites and have the software, Blurb has a tool to bring stuff in from InDesign, but I don't know anything about that myself.

I ordered the paper sample which was 7 bucks if I remember, and it came with a code to get the 7 bucks off the price of a book order.

Love blurb books! I've created several in the past and love the quality.

I really should get to work on my latest one again, I think I still have the file here on my computer.

Wow! I was just thinking of you over the weekend and was going to ask if anyone had heard from you!

Really glad you posted! What else is new? How are you.

And to answer your question. Never wrote a book...or worked on one. I have read a few though!

All kidding aside, it is good to know you're okay Buddy!

    Hey Liz!
To answer your question would take quite a while. If you are on Facebook, look me up and that will give you a good idea of what I've been up to..
As far as the book and my photography goes though, you can check out my blogsite for more information.
The book is going well, and I have a very well known angler and artists writing and intro for me.

    Axle:
I looked at both of your books Axle and I really like the "Voices in the Dark" one. I couldn't help but notice the price! How many have you sold? I am guessing the price is the is just the base price and you haven't increased it at all.
