EOS 20D is one sweet camera

We're down visiting in southern California for Christmas, where we lived for 14 years before moving north, so I visited my old favorite camera shop to say hi. Played with the 20D plenty in there, even brought my 1DMkII with me and my 28-70 f2.8L for side by side comparison. It's a pretty close match for the 1DII. It might be just a tad faster locking focus too. I like the little joy button on the back for selecting AF points too. Much faster making changes on the camera than the 1DII. The 5 fps seems awful slow now that I'm used to the 8 fps of the 1D, but still better than the 3 fps of the 10D. Feels about the same as the 10D in handling. Much quieter than the 1DMkII, almost a whisper to the 1D's shouting. It took all my self control to keep from salivating all over the camera and keep my credit card in my wallet. I felt guilty not buying it after spending all that time playing with it, but I've already spent more for Christmas this year than the last two Christmas' combined.
Maybe Santa will surprise me with one, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Re: EOS 20D is one sweet camera

I am so jealous of all I'm reading about the 20D. For over a month I've been intent on buying one but want to wait until January 1 to buy it for an easier write off for my business that I'm starting this year. The last few days are hard..
