    Displaying mounted/matted prints

I have an idea for a simple product for displaying mounted/matted prints and am wondering what others use to do this?
I'd appreciate any links or info on existing products for this purpose to make sure I'm not duplicating an existing product.

Once I have some prototypes made in a month or two, I'm going to ask some of you who could use this type of product to try them out so let me know if you would be interested in helping me that way.

If any of you know about U.S. patent law, I have a question about that over on the Business forum -

    Hey Chunk

Can you be a little more specific without giving away your idea? Are you talking about a way to hang matted prints on a wall without framing it?

    Thanks,
    Rick

I was wondering the same thing Rick.

I may be interested in helping test your product out when you get to that stage Chunk. I will talk to one of my friends who owns a gift store here in Mineral Point if he would be interested in displaying some prints for sale. The store isn't that big, so depending on how much space your item takes up, it might not work out. We can cross that bridge when we get to it tho.

    Keep us posted.

First you have to do a patent sreach, and check though adds to make sure that it doesn't exist already. Then the patent is filed, and even if it's greanted if someone can show "prior art" you still could lose.

Yes, that's the idea only it could also be used on pegboard (I'm thinking like a folding screen skinned with white pegboard) making a simple system that would not only be portable but very customizable as to matboard size and arrangement. I don't think I want to get any more specific than that right now. There is a similar common product for hanging other things on walls that is not as adaptable IMHO.

    Thanks for your interest.

My cousin is the manager of a restaurant on front street. She already has two of my prints hanging, so I could hang one there, and list the mounting system as yours, along with the appropriate contact info.

I'm sorry I do not have any idea. But they can cost.

Hey Chunck, way to go. Glad to see some of our folks trying things like this. You can put me down as having some interest if you get things going. I am scoping out a couple of places here locally to try and talk to about putting some of my prints in.
