The Desert is in Full Bloom

And so is my back yard!

I have the hardest time photographing these flowers, but every year I still try.

The blooms are very delicate, opening fully during the night and usually dead by that afternoon. Some years I have 2 or 3 blooms, others as much as 20. This year it looks like I'll only have 5, maybe 6.

Here's the two that I awoke to this morning..

Re: The Desert is in Full Bloom

I remember "The Living Desert" by Disney Studios back sometime in the 50s, I think and they showed desert flowers in bloom and how short lived they were.
Glad you were able to catch these this year. Thanks for sharing.

    Brian,

These are really nice shots. I'm amazed with their short life span that you were able to capture them at full bloom and do such a great job.

They're certainly a delicate flower - and I enjoyed their story. Very interesting.
