    A day at the races....

RC (radio controlled) racing, that is. Was asked to take some pictures for the Record Gazette on Saturday morning. These buggers were harder to shoot than I anticipated. A faster lens certainly would have helped. The engine is only .12 cubic inches, and can reach speeds of up to 40mph. This was an endurance race: 3 hrs. with 45 minute segments per driver per team.

Re: A day at the races....

what else would be hard that you wouldn't necessarily think of till you get there is that you can't get eye-level with these little guys. Must have been very hard to get compelling action shots for the paper because of it.

I would say from the newspaper's viewpoint the third one would work best. The fourth is too static and centered; you see no movement. The second has too much to take in so the action really doesn't stand out. THe first one is great and would be a nice sidebar in a magazine story about RC cars.
