    Crystal Cathedral at Christmas (2011)

I stopped by the Crystal Cathedral on Christmas day. Nicely decorated, though supposedly not as well as in yesteryear as they are going through some extreme financial problems (actually, baring a miracle, they will be the Catholic Cathedral in a few years).

It wasn't as crowded as I expected and there were many signs of financial stress around campus, but it's still an architectural marvel. I really like the contemporary styling, and find the inspirational messages, well, inspirational .

That's a nice series of photos! I know about the financial problems that church has been having and I've never really been a fan of that style of religion. But your series gives a more intimate look at the church than I've seen before and maybe even a glimpse at some of the deeper purer principles that originally inspired it. And it really is a very impressive bit of architecture. Thanks for sharing these

Thanks too John. To me, it's fun on occasion to be like a reporter and lay things out in an informative manner, rather than use the artsy approach (maybe I should have added captions also?).

Yep, this church has seen better days, with a declining base and ill-timed expansion work just as the recession hit. Its financial problems are probably insurmountable, so its sale might be the only way out.

The architecture is awesome, if not a little plain. I guess that's the allure of it however, not to mention the protestant way. It still looks contemporary too, even though it's probably quite old at this point.

Might not be in such a financial pickle if they practiced some frugality with their tithing. Might be a good way to respect the tithers.

No less, great set of photos and interesting compositions. Thanks for sharing.
