Creating DVD Slideshows - What software do you use?

I've been trying all day long to burn a DVD slideshow on iDVD and it's given me the same error over and over again, so I'm done with it.

What software do you guys use for your slideshows?

idvd is pretty good, but you might have better luck creating the slideshow in iphoto and exporting that to idvd to burn it. If you want a bit more control of the slideshow you can look to video editing programs. iMovie is a good starting point. If that isn't enough adobe premier, final cut, sony vegas etc are all worth looking at.

None of these programs will put your slideshow on dvd though, what they do is produce a video file that your dvd bAuthoring software (iDVD, toast, nero, roxio, adobe encore etc) will be able to convert to a dvd and burn to disk.

Some DVD software have components that allow you to create a slideshow from within the software, but as you are experiencing as this isn't there primary task the don't always manage the job so well.

My personal workflow for these things is windows movie maker / imovie / iphoto for a fast job (depending on what sort of control I want on audio and if I am on a mac or pc) and adobe premier pro for a job with more control (there are literally millions of possible effects but it takes time as they typically need a higher level of manual control. On a pc I usually use adobe encore to master it to dvd, but this again is a more manual program so it takes time to learn. On a mac I generally find that iDVD or toast produce good enough results.

I have used My Slide Show, link: MySlideShow - software for creating slide shows, web galleries, photo albums, screen savers, presentations, video files, VideoCD and DVD

I have been very happy with the results. You can make self running CD/DVD shows, but with the old version I have you need to resize the images to the display resolution you will be using. Not I have not updated to the latest greatest version so the resizing and loading my not be problem any more.

I tend to use either Cyberlink's PowerDirector for everything, including burning (it came with my laptop, alright?), otherwise if I want to actually edit the thing, I use Camtasia Studio and then burn using the Cyberlink suite or Nero or whatever.

Pro Show Web, mainly because you can download 1080p files for use in video editing.

The shareware program I use I got before the free software was available (back in 2000-2001), It still does stuff the free problems do not do

It was way under $100 too
