Folks
My wife and I are heading to Alaska for 2 weeks at the end of the summer. We will be spending one week on a small cruise boat that allows a significant amount of kayaking and hiking, and the other week in Denali. I will be bringing my new Canon S50 for point-and-shoot digital, and also my Canon Elan IIe. Currently, I have the 28-105 USM 3.5/4.5 lens, and a 20-35 USM wide angle. I was considering buying a tele zoom lens to add to my collection, but don't know what is the most useful for my trip. I was considering the 70-200 2.8L IS, or the 100-400 4.5/5.6L IS.
Does anyone have other good options? What about something combined with a teleconverter? I am confused about the use of IS and AF with a teleconverter and the Elan IIe, which I bought in 1997.
When not on vacation, most of my photography is sports related (cycling, sailing, etc).
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jay
