A couple from my first engagement photoshoot

I had a friend ask if I could help him shoot one of his friend's engagement photos. So we piled into the car and headed up to Santa Clara University for the shoot. We had a pretty good time, and I think it went well.

Here are a couple of the quick edits of my favorites

#2 Gotta through a funny one in there. The groom to be isn't too photogenic, and we were trying to get him prepped for the wedding day where he'll have tons of photos

I saw this photo somewhere else and thought I'd try it out

    #4 One of my favorites

#5 This was one of the "About to leave, had a flash of inspiration" photos

#6 I'm thinking of rotating this so he is straight, and everything else slanted

Re: A couple from my first engagement photoshoot

I like #3 and #5. I feel these shots look most flattering for the bride to be. #6 has a shallow DOF, she seems soft while he is in focus...oops...I'm not in the critique forum. I'll stop.

I find this challenging and rewarding once the couple finds their favorite shot. BTW, good job on the poses

Definitely #3 for me, and I am not the biggest fan of B & W. Looks like my daughter wants me to do a shoot for her. I will have to remember what you have done here

Very nice! I think I like #5 the best.

You may want to think about using the clone tool on #4.

Yes, I plan on cloning stuff, cleaning up the ones they pick. I'm not in the mood to edit the 50-60 that came out good.

You can critique, its ok, I won't feel bad I have another shoot for a friend in Dec, so whatever advice I get here I'll be using.

Hey nice job on these. I'm sure the couple is going to be very happy with these. I really like the concept in #3 but fell you need a bit more DOF, I like him blurred but I think it is just a little to much.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

"The groom to be isn't too photogenic, and we were trying to get him prepped for the wedding day where he'll have tons of photos"

He looks fine in B&W. Believe me, I've had less photogenic people to shoot!

#3 "I saw this photo somewhere else and thought I'd try it out"

And you did it well. A touch more DOF would be nice, and something that you can take multiple shots of at different apetures and pick which one works best.

#5 "This was one of the "About to leave, had a flash of inspiration" photos"

Again, another shot that works well. FWIW, next time have their faces about to touch, but not quite touching. That way you avoid any scrunched up noses, checks etc. This one works because they are barely touching.

#6 "I'm thinking of rotating this so he is straight, and everything else slanted"

Personally, I like this one as is, but definitely play around with it and find what works for you. Thanks to Photoshop, we have the ability to manipulate to our hearts desire.

    Great series!
