They use a tank of resin (they don't say exactly what) which hardens when sufficiently illuminated by UV laser. With 3 lasers, one in each axis, they can use x,y,z coordinates from a computer model to produce solid parts. Only where the lasers meet is there enough energy to cure the resin, the rest remains soft and can easily be removed.
