Good shots, John. Now that is certainly frosty . . .I like the view of the reflection in your glasses. You look like a character out of Beowulf, minus the glasses.
Great stuff
Cool stuff, John. Was this at Alta again? I might be heading up to SLC area for ski trip in March. Not sure yet.
Yeah, it's Alta. I have an Alta pass so that's where I'll be spending most of my ski time. Let me know when you're coming and maybe we can have a little ski photo gathering :-)

That would be cool. A buddy of mine is doing this for his bachelor party. I never thought I'd be going to Utah for a bachelor party. As soon as he makes up his mind where he wants to go, I'll let you know.
I like that mountain shot PJ We may have some of those this weekend too, they just changed us to get hit by 6-12 or 12-18 inches of snow....I'm on the line. I'd rather shoot this scene though.... snow on flat farmland just doesn't do compared to this!

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
I'm home now for the break, and all the storms have either been south of us in Utah or north in Montana. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait to get back to school. Oh ya, great shots by the way.

Alta ski resort, just outside Salt Lake City, in the Wasatch Mountains. I can't remember exactly where I was when I took the picture, though. The landscape is look north, across Little Cottonwood Canyon. Salt Lake City would be about 10 miles to the left and 5000 feet below.
I'm glad I get to see the snow through your great shots, cause I don't think I'll ever set foot in that stuff on purpose again. Too cold, but very cool shots.

Hey John (or MTBBrian), where are some good places up near Alta to shoot at? I'll be in Lehi all next week, but I'd like to travel up 80 to the resort areas and get some landscape shots to put up in my apartment.
Hopefully they'll be spots that don't involve too much hiking. I'm a beach boy and temps under 40 make me cringe
The landscape is so dramatic right now, you can find good photos almost anywhere. There's a park and ride parking lot at the bottom of Little Cottonwood that has great views of the steep cliffs at the mouth of the canyon. And the parking lot at Alta has 360-degree views of awesomeness. This picture was taken yesterday (EOS 40D) at about noon, from the parking lot.
