I got "The Blair Cicada Project."

But what I really want to know is why "42" wasn't listed as a favorite number choice. Sheesh. (Now let's see how many PRers get that reference - will the real geeks please stand up?).

    I think that made sense...

if I were standing on my head holding my breath until I turned blue.

I was also a Blair Cicada.

I'm pissed that "John Cicada" (ie John Secada) wasn't an option

    Sperryville, VA!

They have the annual "Dukes Days" every August. Cooters is run by Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter on the show. He gets all the old actors to come in for "Duke Days."

I'll go check my email. Maybe we can have a "Dukes Gathering!"

You know what I love about PR.com?

It's the fact that we can talk about Cicadas, Massachusettes, kissing Photo-John, San Jose, East Fishkill, the Dukes of Hazard, cult-classic books, AND take a Cicada personality test...

... all in the same thread!

    Long Live the Viewfinder!!

now here's some more Cicadas for your viewing pleasure.

Know what Rick, you're right! In any forum, it's good to have a thread that gets goofy every now and then.
It shows us that the members, while passionate about photography here at PR, also have a sense of lightheartness and enjoy joking and interacting with each other.

    In the minority...

    Fun thread, and nice shots.

In Japan, cicadas are generally thought of fondly, and are seen as a good sign of the coming of summer.

Also, while the larvae feed on fluid from tree roots (which may not be so good for some very young trees but in general seems to not bother the trees so much), the older cicadas don't seem to eat much of anything. Nor do they bite, sting or spread any diseases.

I guess that I am in the minority, but I have a soft spot for them (NOT to eat). Something about them waiting around for 13 or 17 years, then flying about just trying to get the next generation going before its all over in just five weeks makes me feel sentimental.
