For Chunk, Better Late Than Never

Sorry it took me so long to post these. A few of my Persied Meteor Shower shots. Nothing spectacular. They were mostly dim meteors ( third, fourth, fifth magnitude), and the rates were fairly slow (approximately 60/hour when I took these).

I started with my K1000 and a 50mm f1.4 lens. After watching several meteors pass just outside the area covered by that lens, I got out the N80 with my 28-70mm f2.8. Not as much light gathering ability, but plenty of area coverage.

The first three are cropped. You can see how dim they were in the first two shots. The third one almost got away. The fourth one is full frame, reduced to 640 pixels, and was the brightest one I recorded. Exposures varied from 30 seconds (if I knew I had one) to five minutes, hence the varied amount of star trailing.

Thanks Speed. These are cool. Too bad that it wasn't a bigger shower for you. These are much better than mine since it was overcast here.
Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town for an extended weekend.
