    Check this out!

I took my 8 year old grandson down to the beach today so we could feed the birds and I could take some pictures. I hadn't been taking them long when he said, "Grandpaw can I take some pictures"? He has never touched a camera before in his life but grandpaw handed him his Nikon D90 with the 18-200VR lens on it and I said don't drop it in the sand. I told him to point at what he wanted a picture of press the button down a little so it will focus and then press down all the way to take the picture. The first three pictures are the very first three photos he has ever taken and the rest I picked out of the first ten that he took. I was impressed with what I saw when I got home and looked at them on my computer. See what you think. It was a totally gray day with no sun out at all. Remember he is 8 years old and this is his first try, proud grandpaw Jeff

I might add that he took these while I went back to the car to get my D80

Great start, looks like Grandpaw is going to have a "block off the old chip"

I appreciate all the work you do to keep this outfit, fit.

I actually love that first one even if the top seagull is off frame.
My granddaughter (11) got a p&s for Christmas but I haven't seen her yet. Can't wait to get together with her.

    Re: Check this out!

just wanted to let everyone see what a great job my grandson did for his first time. He shocked me with what he managed to get and I am looking forward to more outings with him and the cameras. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my exciting adventure, Jeff

    Re: Check this out!

That's great Jeff, I'm sure you guys will share much in the outings to come. I started doing this with my stepson (10) about a year ago and was also shocked at what he came home with on the first trip too. Even more interesting was that it wasn't long before he discovered the cybershot's movie mode. So lately on the nature outings, I'll take the stills and he'll do the video

You have every right to be proud of your grandson's first photographic accomplishments, thanks for sharing them with us

Those do look great! I can't wait till my 7yr old gets a little more used to handling equipment without having butter fingers
