    Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS vs Sigma 24-135 f/2.8-4.5

I'm considering both lenses, does anyone have any experience with either? Which is a better value? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    I own the canon

    Hi There,

I don't have any experience w/ the sigma lens, but I do own the canon IS lens. I've had it for about 2 years now, and I love it. It's almost always on the camera (Elan 7E). I had also considered the sigma lens, and a tamron (can't remember which one), but I ultimately chose the canon lens because of the IS. It does work. The lens also focuses quickly, is very quiet, and it's built pretty well. So far, I've had no problems w/ it.

    Good luck,

    David

    re

Thanks, I really get the feeling that people either love or hate that Canon lens. They seem to have come down in price a little bit. The Sigma also seems like a great value but I'm intriuged by the IS on the Canon. Thanks again for the comments, I really appreciate them.

I use the 28/135IS Canon for 80-85% of my horse show photos.
It functions flawlessly and provides VERY sharp and consistant results.
Size and weight are just right for me. IS helps in many situations, I'm older and not as steady - the IS puts me back in business.

Why anyone who REALLY shoots- would critisize this lens is beyond me.
