This thread just went from neat, to FREAKING SWEET!!! You guys are insane! LOL

We try! This is what happens when I packrat camera person meets another packrat (and turns them into a camera person)

How often do you use any of these since you got the *ist digital? You should display these in a glass case if you aren't already. They would be great conversation pieces.

I have thought of buying a nice display case, but as you can see from the couch, my priorities veer away from furnature rather badly.

They actually get used a good bit. The oldies go in cycles. The Canonet was carried around for a while, then the Honeywell, then ect. ect. Two-thirds of that pile gets a roll through it at least once a month. About one-third are regular (weekly) shooters.

The new toy has taken over for the old film cameras a little, but has mostly just made the other digitals and newer stuff obsolete. Also, there are two people shooting with this pile, and while Dave's been impressed by the new toy, he won't shoot with the newer stuff (not as much fun, reportedly). The H1A actually got him started too. That is a dangerous camera!!

Okay, I pulled the frequently used stuff together for a quick portrait.

Of everything you see here, my most commonly used equipment is the Canon G3, Canon 10D with 50mm lens, and either of the flashes.

My favorite bag by far is the ugly green Domke. That thing is perfect and can fit so much stuff since they didn't go rediculous with 7 inch padding like every other bag out there.

It's hard to see from this photo but my pano gear is dispersed throughout too....I love taking pano's but don't have much to show for it.

And yes, that is Spongebob on one of my lenses

Very impressive family portrait. Nicely arranged and lighted. When I did my family portrait I stuck to just the camera's and lenses. After seeing this I now want to go back and get all the other items together and try and get it all in one shot. You did a beautiful job illustrating your equipment.

Well, I might have broken the rules a little bit ;) I personally wouldn't mind seeing all the bits and pieces that we use daily but which we don't consider worthy of attention. For example, I always have a little leatherman tool with me in the field....it comes in handy on occasion.

Outdoors (for something like portraits), the large one. Indoors, usually the middle sized one. For macro photography I use the two small ones or the middle sized one.

If I were forced to only have one I'd keep the middle sized one and replace the large one with something like foamcore. The small ones are also easily replaceable with foamcore or other materials.

For the 5 in 1 reflectors, I like having diffusion, silver, and white. I don't usually use the gold or silver/gold. My two small reflectors aren't 5 in 1. One is a black reflector and one is a diffuser.

HA! I was waiting for someone to notice It works quite well. Would you like to know something even more funny? Guess what the ping pong table is sitting on...........a pool table. I'm completely serious!

The lighting is very simple. It's just a large softbox overhead and a little direct fill flash from the camera.

Another digital camera body and an L series? I like your optimism....

....but it probably won't happen. I am a college student with limited funds. I worked an entire month full time last summer to save up for my camera. If I were to get a better setup I would either need to make a chunk of cash or get a grant of some sort. Both probably won't heppen any time soon.

Well since I last posted there's been some addtions and subtractions from the family. Plus I didn't have a shot of all of them! So here we are, and updated one!

1 - Agfa, make unknown. This camera belonged to my mom's father, and then to my uncle, finally to my mom, and was her first camera. We still have photos taken with it in albums at home. I've never used it. It can take both landscape and portrait oriented shots.

2 - Minolta Hi-Matic 7s, my first camera, bought it at a garage sale for $5.00, I now use it as a loaner to people who want to try out with a manual focus camera. It's automatic, but you can set aperature and shutter speed manually.

3. Blacks Crestline C-60, the flash actually came with another camera, but since I don't use that camera, the Hi-Matic uses it.

4. Zenit-B, This russian camera is another garage sale buy, and acutally belonged to a member of my church before coming to me, through another person first. This was orignally purchased in East Germany.

5. Vivitar 85mm-205mm tele-zoom, I use this lens more than my fixed length telephoto, it's an MC mount lens I purchased it for $55.00 canadian off E-bay.

6. Solingor 200mm telephoto, fondly refered to as the 'stalker lens' it's one of the lens that I got when I purchased my SRT-102. I have a Skylight and a UV Haze filter for this lens

7. Minolta AutoPac 460T, this pocket camera has again never seen field use since the battery door is broken. I bought it to get an answer for a church car ralley. I can still buy film for it!

8. Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash, bought at, yes a garage sale for a mere $0.30, out of a box, it's in rather good condition, and is one of the older cameras in the collection, next to the Agfa of course.

9. Vivitar 2800 flash, when the plastic mount on my old Hanimex TZ-1 flash broke, this was the flash I got to replace it. It's really good, easy to use and set, and comes with various filters for the lens mount, I mainly keep a wide angle difuser on.

10. Minolta SRT-102, my current camera, this 1973 camera is an all manual SLR it took me awhile to figure it out, but I was able to get it working in great order. It takes great pictures. Attached to it is a 50mm lens, with a cokin A series filter system attached. for the Cokin I have a star filter. Also for this lens in normal threaded filters I have a SL-1A Polorizor, ND 0.3 and an 81A.

11. Minolta Riva 90 Zoom Date, It's your regular 35mm point and shoot with zoom lens camera. I still use this for snap shots, but I can still get good results. The lens is a 38mm-80mm zoom.

12. Ritoch Elnica 35M, another garage sale buy where I was mainly after the flash (the black's crestline) more than the camera. It's in great condition, except for the fact that the batteries are dead and hard to come buy. It's a fully automatic range finder camera, with manual focus and a 40mm lens

Missing from this photo since it was the camera taking the picture is an HP Photosmart 320, I use this mainly for quick work on websites and just fast snapshots at small events where I don't have film in another camera.

I also use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and an HP ScanJet 3500 scanner to put photos on the Internet.

I actually got mine second hand from a photographer I know. It had been dropped and there was a small scratch on the lens and the zoom ring is a tad sticky on one end but it is still sharp and works fine for now. *knocks on wood*

If you don't need that extra f stop take a look at the canon 70-200 f/4. A few fellow skim photographers shoot with it and love it. It's just as sharp as my sigma, maybe even a tad sharper.

Boy how did you guys dig this post up? I started this nearly a year ago. I thought it had died a natural death by now. Nice families by the way. I aways enjoy seeing others equipment. I need to update mine I've added another Nikon body and a lens since I took that pictures.

So I thought I'd chime in with this thread..
It shows me with my F100, with Sigma 14 f/2.8 AF ASP EX and SB-80.
Also shown is the Nikon 24 f/2.8 AF-D, 35-70 f/2.8 AF-D and 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S.
On the left is a pyramid of Holgas. One of which is a pinhole one.
I took this with our "Nikonito" a Coolpix 3200.

Very cool picture Brian. I like what you did here. Those Holgas kind of have a life of their own. Nice the have the Nikon to watch over them.
