    Re: Camera around the world

The inclusion of a character like Sebs Hip Hop guy would be good. i have some little figures similiar that I would not mind sending. These are about 2-3 inches tall. I could give you one like them to send around.

Hey count me in!! This sounds like a great idea. We have to get our gallery crew in on this as well. We have several regular participants on the gallery that are international. I know some of them would love to play with us. That little camera could log a lot of miles with the gallery crew.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Gary, I thought about the memo pad. I woudn't mind when the camera returns, if ever, having everyones autograph. I like the idea of exchanging and item and also a troll or something to include in one of the pictures. But I would like the troll to somehow be PR related. Maybe the Mods can help with that or have a poll. I thought of Seb's "Mr. Hip Hop" AKA "Mr. Make it Funky" AKA " Rufus Griffin". I was thinking that maybe a limit of five pictures to be posted from each loacation, but I think the Mods need to set the ground rules for that. I haven't yet heard back from Photo-John on the staues of the camera, but I am gald that there are enough people to make this happen. I am also gald you are in on this and I hope to hear from Seb as well. How about it Tuna, wanta play. LOL.. You too Ron

OT, Am am glad you are in on this as well. A specal gallery would be great. Maybe you Mods can get together and lay out the basic ground rules. Another View has PMed me some good ideas. I also like the idea of just sending the addresses ahead to the next person. I have a PO Box and they are not to expensive for those that are nervous, But I think I will ship UPS because of the online tracking.
I also like jorgemonkeys idea with the tracking map, maybe he would be kind enough to help track it with a map.

    Re: Camera around the world

the biggest thing here is are you going to make a list of where it goes and stop all new additions then and there ? then maybe start another tour when it returns ??? or is this going to be "i have it and done with it ... who wants it now ? "

also i think there should be a time limit of how long you have the camera for .... i am guessing that most people will want it for a weekend to go get the shot they are thinking about ....

    Re: Camera around the world

I like how this is going.

I would like to mirror the thoughts of several others who think a predetermined listed of names would be the most efficient way of going about doing this. If everyone who is interested were to pm (or post) their name and town, we could put them in order so that the package more or less travels in a straight line around the world.

That might mean starting it out at the photographyREVIEW.com offices, then mailing it to a member in San Francisco, who mails it to a member in LA, who mails it to me in Phoenix, who mails it to Austin, to Kentucky to Florida to England, to....

That would make a generally straight line. But would also require everyone to be signed up ahead of time.

A map is a great idea. What would be really neat is if we could somehow draw a line connecting the dots in the order it goes... is anyone aware of software that does that? If need be, someone could simply scan in a map, draw the dots, and then with every new location connect the dots and repost the map.

I like the idea of sending some sort of doll around. I'm not particularly attached to the Family Guy, but I'm sure something could be found. Photo John's an eccentric guy, I'll bet he has something sitting on his desk right now ;)

    Re: Camera around the world

What if we take a troll, or family guy figure, or whatever we decide on, and get a PR shirt to put on it? I'm sure we could find a plain white doll shirt, and then iron the PR logo onto it. I think I still have some iron-on inkjet paper. I'm sure it would be small and hard to read, but it would put a PR spin on the opject.

    Re: Camera around the world

I think it would be best if whatever item we send along with the camera was something unique. It shouldn't be something that just anyone can go buy from a store or order off the internet. Ideally, it should be one of a kind. A modification, like putting a pr.com shirt on Rufus, would accomplish that.

I also like the idea of having a predetermined list and path for the camera to follow as it's mailed around. Any late comers could be added to the end of the list, or possibly put on a second list for round two. A map could be used to decide on the order, a list could be shipped along with the camera, and each person who receives the camera can PM the next person on the list to get their address.

I think you should do the map, and I would gladly work on the list and route unless the Mods want the task they could at least post a list of user ID's city and state, without addresses...

The cool thing about the map is people sign in and add themself, with an image if they want. All I would have to do is moderate the map and delete any improper images, which we wouldn't have to worry about here on Photographyreview. When I did it on MTBR I had to delete a couple images :blush2:

But I'm down with creating the map and keeping track of it.

Actually I just realized if I had the city name, zip, and screen name of the person I guess I could put them on the map, but I haven't tried doing that before.

Add me to the list if there already a list;-) We should setup an album to post all the photos in, or have a person to email the photos to and that person adds to the album or even a web site.

I just had an off-the-wall thought. Do they have PR t-shirts? We could use a t-shirt to send around with the camera. Everyone sign the t-shirt with name & location. Then at the end of this, have a vote on the best location - and the winner gets the t-shirt.

This sounds like a lot of fun, count me in!!

A map is easy to do, just edit it with the line tool in photoshop. a straight line is fine, there is no way we would trace the exact route the camera took between destinations. The camera reciever could update the map, or an admin could.

I suggest that we don't let it get too complicated - something that floats around to include in a photo from each location is a great idea, but anything else might be confusing and cause more trouble than it is worth.

Looks like what we need now is who to send our address to, for compilation. I sould suggest a time limit on this, albeit generous.

    Re: Camera around the world

First I don't think it to be a good idea to have a "winner" per say that gets a T-Shirt. I don't think this project should be anything about winning. (just my opinion)
I agree that something should be included to travel around with the camera that will be in some, if not all of the shots. A small figure with the PR logo would be great or perhaps a small flag on a stick with the PR logo. This is a detail that will be decided on when all is about set to go.
There should be a sticky set up in the ViewFinder forum that will be there only for the sole purpose of members putting their Screen name, Real name, City ,State, and Country. There will be a deadline set so that we can get started on mapping out a route and setting up starting points etc.
A list will be made after the deadline is up. We will set up starting point and route, which will be posted on a thread. The starting point memeber will PM the next member on the list to get mailing address, and so on . . .
There should be a limit set on the number of pictures to be taken by each member. Each member should take that specific number of shots, no more and no less, so that we know exactly which pictures belong to what member.
I would be willing to edit the map and post the progress and route of the camera, if no one else would rather do it.
please do not edit and repost my photos
