here's what I came up with after being inspired by the tulip shots....any suggestions and input would be appreciated.

the first two are the front and the back is well---the back....

I like the first one more Natalie. The first thing I see is the flower, then my eyes are drawn to the black where the text stands out.

Actually my avatar is a selfepic in one of those huge half globe mirrors in parking garages. As for the distortion, that is from photoshop.

Give me so time to cinsider my opinions and I will tell you why I like each of them.

I like the black border in the first one because your eye is drawn to it. Back looks great too!

Yeah! Quit posting for awhile so I can catch up!!!

No, it really looks great. Maybe make the black area a little wider and the type just a little bigger, but not much.

The back design is excellent, as for the front, I'd go with the one that doesn't have the black bar on it.

I think if your card says wedding, portraits, maternity, etc. - you should probably put one of those type of photos on the card, rather than the tulip. Looking at the front and "digital artist" makes me think you are more of a graphic designer than a people photographer. The two sides seem inconsistent.

Just free advice that may be worht what you paid for it...

    Yep...

Nat, you're giving mixed messages. You can bill yourself as a digital artist, and you can bill yourself as a digital photographer, but it's probably not a good idea to singularly emphasize both, one on each side of your card. It's a little confusing...

Sure, being a digital artist can encompass photography (I put myself in that camp), but I agree with LL that the main image on a commercial card should be an example of the commercial work you do (and similar to the kind of work you want to get), not just some nice design.

If you look at my splash page, I absolutely emphasize photography, then include digital art as a smaller facet of the work I do...

Steve, I love the design of your zeroes and ones.

And I agree that the first thing I thought when I saw that the third image was the back of the card, was that it didn't match the front. I thought if you were emphasizing people in your photography, that you really need to give an example of it on the front.

I actually like the back the best. I'm guessing it's the simplicity of it.

The tulips are great, but like the others have stated, they don't seem to go with what you are advertising. In line with what LL, Steve and Kelly have said, regarding the photographer vs digital artist, l suggest that you show something that combines your talents as a portrait photographer and a digital artist. See example below.

BTW, this is a cropped version of what you sent me. It's a great example of combining portraiture and digital artistry.

    My two cents...

Having read all of the comments, I agree with Steve about the digital photographer/artist thing. It kind of sends a mixed message, you should use one or the other.
I like the design of the the front, but the flower seems to be a little too bright, maybe you could lighten it up and bring the constrast down a bit.
The back is good! I like business cards that use both sides!

    Damn, girl! Now we're talking...

Talk about a quantum leap in a design's evolution...

As good as your flower looked, THIS is what you really want on your commercial business card. I don't thnk the design (even business card sized) is too busy at all. You did a great job of laying out the shots and IMO it has overall as well as individual impact.

    That being said...

I'm not sure I like the design of the typography side of your card. I mean I think it's certainly good enough, but to me it's kind of generic. I think you could come up with something better.

I'm also not a huge fan of the "gray scale" text. It's an intersting idea, but I don't think it reads that well when put into use....

    Re: business cards....input please

After reading Steve's comment, I have to agree with it (just a lemming, I know...). But I think this new design sends a lot stronger message of what you do and what type of work you're trying to get. I know what you do, but people you're handing the card to may not.

One idea: I wonder if some people will think you only do B&W by looking at the card. Really, things like that happen. What about making half of those images in color - kind of a checkerboard effect?

It's tough to see some of the photos - especially the top right one. I might drop one or two of them - as you said it's 2 x 3.5 and I think you have too many. Nice pics, though. Also, not to throw a really monkey wrench here, but do you want all black and white? Will people think that is all you do?

I like! But why don't you...

    No we're talking Nat!
To go along with what Steve and LL said, why don't you mix the front up with some color photographs as well.
