    Business Card Critique?

Decided to make my photography business a little more like an actual business so I'm working up a business plan and creating letterhead and business cards etc.

My first try what ya think?

Here's what I see: It's quick and to the point. I can immediately tell what kind of work you're after and the contact info is very obvious (sometimes logos are hard to figure out). OTOH, I think the film strip idea is a little dated (I'm not saying the film itself, just the presentation like this).

Yeah wasn't completely sold on the filmstrip thing myself but figured it was easy way to lay up a few pictures on the card. Considering I don't even shoot film kinda made think twice. Still up in the air.

An idea I have toyed with was taking a shot of the back of my camera with a photo on the LCD screen with a good sports shot on it...I may still do that

I'm actually working on that idea right now. the same thing they used for the sports shooter book released by SI, right?

Yeah, the design is fairly standard, but works (obviously) because it's your photos

I have a problem with the type style. I have a very tough time reading it. On my screen (and the card image is large), I can't make out your web site URL at all. I mean, I can tell it's your name, but can't actually read it...

I agree with Steve. The type does not work here. Also, I don't really care for the red intersecting lines. If you're going to incorporate that, then perhaps just make them black. Other than that it is a workable design.

I think it lookd great. Very to the point, like was mentioned earlier. Have you consulted any printing companies to find out what it'll cost? Are they going to charge extra for all the colors? I would suppose that might be a factor, but I like the look.

    Re: Business Card Critique?

I'm wondering about your choice of the lefthand photo. I wasn't sure just what it was about and finally figured it must be a wedding party in the back seat of a car. Perhaps a stronger, more easily interpreted photo like the other two might strengthen it.
Is your business only weddings? If not, a wider variety of shots might be in order.

    Re: Business Card Critique?

I'm with Chunk here, I disliked the left image for the same reason. found myself squinting into the car to see what was going on in there. I think the other 2 are great and I also like the film strip idea with the red film rather than black. I agree that the font could be easier to read. Overall I thought it was a colorful, eye-catching card that looked very professional and creative and clearly demonstrated your skill with people and particularly, weddings.

I don't think you're going to lose business because of an imperfect business card, I know you can spend weeks working on one. So I'd just pick one that works and go with it

    Re: Business Card Critique?

Thanks alls. Some good suggestions on how to improve it. This was really just a one night sit down and do it so I think if I put in one more night I should be able to have something that will work.

To answer other questions americasprinter.com (as mentioned in the past on this site) has great prices for full color business cards.
