    Burned San Diego countryside

Got out today and got a few photos of southern San Diego county... second time in four years for this particular area (Jumal).

More to come if I see anything interesting.

The first one is very telling. The charred bottom half with the still-green upper half reveals how fast and hot the fire came through.

    Thanks for sharing these, GB.

I bet it smells pretty bad.
I can't figure out why the tumbleweed or whatever along the burned fence didn't burn. Certainly looks like tinder to me.

The wind does funny things with fire. I'm thank full that were I'm at the winds do not get blowing that fast.

I, too, noticed how not 'everything' burned. Those flames must have been racing across the land to not completely char everything in their path. Wow.

Yep it is pretty weird now that you all mention it ... The fire did skip some places, but it was moving pretty fast. Actually major areas are unaffected out there (I didn't photograph those..) where others are completely destroyed.
