    A boy and his car

My friend has had this car for as long as I can remember, and its time has come. I believe the transmission is going out, the clutch is shot, and there is a few other major problems as well. I don't think this car could hit 65 mph even if you dropped it out of an airplane.

So my friend calls me up and says he wants to get some pics of him & the car and he'll be by in 5 mins to pick me up. We spent about an hour or so at 2-3 different locations. We have plans for another shot but we'll need a 2nd car for it. It was nice for me since I've never really shot cars before. We used natural light on all and a little bit of flash on some.

    2. I liked the background, so I made him stay put while I got a closeup

    3. I'm debating on this shot. I like it, but I just feel its missing something

    4. One of my favs from the day. I'm thinking though a little tighter crop on the right

    5. Gotta go with the standard muscle car shot

    6. A little desaturation on the blues gave me this one

    7. Same PP method

    8. My danger shot. I kept looking back to make sure no cars were coming in the opposite direction

Nice series Scott. The "muscle car" comment on #5 got a laugh from me!

My wife had a tercell when we met, it finally died and wanted to roll it into the river but opted for the junk yard instead. Good job for an AWESOME car

Hmm, maybe the shoes are whats missing in #3, I'll have to go back and fix it. I know he has feet though!
The ironic thing on #5 was I took it with a completely different image in mind. Through post though I came out with this one. We also spent about 15 mins shooting him & the reflection and I didn't like any of them, and this one I hadn't even noticed the reflection!

Re: A boy and his car

    These turned out great Scott.

Our first cars were a Mercury Zephyr and Plymouth Arrow. I'm not sure there any that run any more.

Re: A boy and his car

I think my grandparents & my dad had a Plymouth arrow while he was young. They ended up selling it down the road to pay for a new car waaaay back in the day.

About 5-6 years ago my dad and I were driving around and we saw one on the street, and my dad mentioned they used to have one of those. Then a took a double take, eyes got wide open, and realized it was the car they used to have! He could tell because the original plate was still on it, which was the plate they had. Somewhere in the time they sold it and now somebody had restored it and was showing it off.
