    Talking Blood-sucker!!!

    I went for a walk outside this morning (with my photo gear, of course) - and spotted this on the side of our house...

    There are plenty around here, but have just started dying off since winter is approaching. (Next summer - EEK).

    Camera & recording mode: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7K/Aperture-Priority.
    Extra equipment: Hood adapter, metal filter frame, Kenko +4 close-up filter, mini-tripod (braced against my shoulder).
    Distance from subject: 25-70 cm.
    Subject size: 5-15mm.

    Shutter speed: 1/60 second
    Aperture: f/5.6
    ISO: 100
    Focal length (35mm equivalent): 594mm

    Thought it might be a mosquito but then wasn't sure that you might have vampires in your area.
    We didn't get many 'skeeters' this year. Don't know why but not complaining.

    Thanks for your replies, Frog and susaan.

    I don't think there are any vampire bats up here, they live mostly in the tropics. (Southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, etc.).

    Also, what do you think about the exposure in this picture - too high/too low/just right? I use 3 PCs and each shows either over/under/about right, so I don't know for sure...
