the BETTER HALF of us men.

Okay men, this is where you can proudly present to the forum that special lady in your life that you call your wife, and tell us just a litte bit about her and why she's so special to you. Feel free to add anything you like but be sure to include a picture (or two)! I'll start with my lovely wife:

    My wife's name is: Claudia

Where I met her: At a local association meeting of our churches in Redlands, CA.

My first thought when I met her for the first time: She's pretty, but too tall for me.

How long I've been married to her: Seven years.

Why I love her so: Just look at that smile! Truly she's God's gift to me!

What interests her? Working with the youth in church, family, BIG trucks.

Okay. I'll play too, even if my wife kills me later for it
    My wife's name is: Alisa
Where I met her: I watched her win a music competition playing Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in d minor, then a mutual friend introduced us, oh, about 21 years ago.

My first thought when I met her for the first time: She's too nice, nobody can be that nice-I was wrong, she really is that nice.
How long I've been married to her: Sixteen going on seventeen years.

Why I love her so: I prayed for God to find me my lifemate, and WHAM! there she was.

What interests her? Home schooling our children, practicing pediatrics one day a week, teaching at church, and playing organ at church..multitalented and well rounded.

Re: the BETTER HALF of us men.

I just can not let this thread go by without showing off the Joy of my life. I do post a few pictures of her here, so I don't have a lot new to show off. She may kill me for posting a couple of these but unless one of you guys tell her how will she know. I don't have Ray's skills as a portrait photgrapher so I'm afraid they are kind of snap shotish but here goes.

#1 This image is from this weekend at my son's new appartment in Columbus, OH, just a simple I've got the camera with me so how about a picture. (Bounce flash)
#2 With our grandson Jack two weeks ago after dinner at a Cracker Barrel resturant.
#3 A snap shot from about a year ago at her sisters house.
#4 With one of her literary idols, a lady by the name of Verna May Slone, who has written a number of books that Joy used while teaching creative writting and the writting process at summer workshops for teachers in Kentucky.

    My wife's name is: Joy

Where I meet her: While we were both students at college. However we didn't start dating untill a couple of years later.

My first thought when I meet her the first time: How can I outwit this gal. (But that is another story, for a another time.)

How long I've been married to her: We were married eight months after we started dating and have been married for 33 years. (Had to wait five months for her to finish graduate school.)

Why I love her so much: She lights up my whole life and gives it meaning.

What interest her: Her family (especially the new grandson), her faith, literature, her work with education and children, and good food.

Thanks Speed. I love to show Joy off and brag on her, but she doesn't share my enthusiasm for this activity. I tried to find some images that showed her different interest, to bad I didn't have a photograph from Saturday nights' shrimp feast at Red Lobster.

Re: the BETTER HALF of us men.

Ok, she's my girlfirend not my wife. But that will be coming soon.

    My girlfriend's name is: Stephanie

Where I meet her: Working at an amusement park as a summer job.

My first thought when I meet her the first time: A lot of the guys in the department are going to be after her.

How long I've been married to her: Dating a little less than a couple years. She's convinced we should be married by now.

Why I love her so much: By far the smartest and most down to earth person I've ever met.

What interest her: She loves to work, and she's more than willing to try my interests.

The picture is her trying out one of my interests. My job requires the use of guns so I took her out to try out a little .22 rifle. She loved it! She's quite a shot.

Sorry, non-married fellas, but I specifically threaded this for showing of our better halves in marriage. Nice gun, though!

Thumbs up A little .22 rifle?

At first glance I thought that was a Ruger 10/22 with an extended (50 round) magazine. But the magazine didn't look quite right (too thick). Then I saw the safety - Ruger Mini 14. Which is a .22 caliber, .224 to be precise.

I've shot four Mini 14's over the years. Two were tack drivers and two shot patterns instead of groups. And if you reload, finding the brass is a pain, since it slings the cases about 25 feet! I'll stick with my Colt.

Nice shot BTW, of the girl and the gun!

Thanks, but actually you were right the first time. It is a Ruger 10/22. But it's a 25 round single stack extended mag. I've got a couple with her shooting an M4 as well. She prefers the .22 though. Easier to handle.

Never knew they made those. I know they made 30 and 50 round mags for it.

So is that the safety I'm seeing in front of the trigger guard? It looks like the safety on the Mini 14 (and M1 Garand).

Yeah, it's a push button safety switch. The gun is reletively new and I picked the magazine up at Gander Mountain. Glad to see that someone else is interested in guns.

I feel like this thread has been hijacked though. I'll start a thread in ViewFinder with a few shooting pics.
