    Best Nikon Lenses

I am relatively new to photography. I have had a Nikon D50 for about 2 years and love using it. So far I have only been using the kit 15-55mm lens. I am thinking about purchasing some new lenses but have no idea what to get.

I do a wide variety of photographs from close-up isolated objects to wide angle low light shooting and lots in between. Can anyone suggest some good all purpose lenses for my Nikon D50? Also, please list what each lens you recommend is ideal for. Thanks for the help.

This will probably get moved to the Nikon forum since you'll probably get a better response there.

Sounds like you might be looking at a couple different lenses

I'm starting to do a lot of portrait work, and I've been using either the 50mm 1.8 or he Nikon 70-200 F2.8 VR. For a wide angle I have the Tokina 12-24 F4 lens.

Usually the 50mm f/1.8 and some sort of wide angle (tokina 11-16mm or Nikon 12-24mm or Sigma 15-30mm are all great WA's). The 50mm is cheap but amazingly sharp and the other wide angles are all sharp by f/8.
