Get out of my way ! A candid on-the-fly shot. This was taken Christmas Eve driving to Grandma's house. I'm in the back seat w/ 5 people in a SUV. The sight to behold is the Sunset @ the Dumbarton bridge,Redwood city,Ca.

No one wanted to pull over , so I had to improvise. Point/shoot !! (Canon S1is) I really wanted to stop, grab the magical sunset in it's purest form. Oh well...

Red eye flash setting used for NO glare.As you can see...It works. :O)

It's a real bummer when they won't stop when there is something to shoot.

Wow, I haven't been on or heard about the Dumbarton Bridge since I was a kid hanging out with my dad on his truck route. We used to live in Hayward and he drove for Walton's all around the bay area. Nice sunset by the way, but I don't think it would have been a good idea to pull over on a bridge. LOL

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I don't see how red eye mode would have helped. Red eye sends out some pre-flashes but all that happens before the shutter opens. You still have light on the glass, and since it's at enough of an angle you don't have a reflection visible to the camera. Did you happen to take one without red eye mode?

I see your point about the flash. I thought it was set. I had a 3" lense hood on the camera.So maybe the flash was blocked in the center. It was quite a Christmas party, I'm having trouble remembering all the details of the evening which started soon after this image was taken.

I didn't even think about no stopping on the entrance to a bridge... I just wanted my way...or the highway, I'd have some sweet images to show while walking to Grandma's house.

I was so taken in by the moment, the one-in-a-million sunset.

red eye flash won't prevent glare, how red-eye flash works is that it pops off the flash quickly so that the subjects' pupils constrict. therefore, less light enters the eyes and less of a chance of red-eye.
