    any one use shutter stock

Just wondering if any one ever uses this sit to sell their pics. The reason I am asking is that I decided to give it a try and they have approved 10of my photos and people have bought them. The problem is my royalties . I made only 3.25 off my photos from people downloading them. I guess I was expecting a little more then that.

I tried and got rejected, you need to get like 1000 pictures to them to make any money. But think about it, it is worth it. Other than collecting digital dust, what do you do with your pictures? Keep sending them eventually you'll get a check.

Never used them but, Tyson is right, might as well kick back and let your shots work for you. Here's a couple other stock sites:

    http://www.photographersdirect.com/
    http://www.istockphoto.com/index.php
    http://www.shutterpoint.com/

If you get a bunch of good shots uploaded to several different places than you might be able to bring in a little on the side.

I have never used shutter stock, but I do have a 8 images for sale on iStockphoto. I uploaded my first image on 8/18/06, and I haven't uploaded anything new since February of 07. I have managed to make $411.63 from those images with basically zero effort. $380.68 of that is from 2 images.

The key to making a good sum of money from micro stock sites is to put lots of images out there, and wait. It's not a get rich quick plan, that's for sure.

I have a friend who has been very, very successful with iStockphoto. She says the key is to work it constantly. You have to continuously add to your portfolio there and really pay attention to what's selling. But there are people making a living from the micro-stock sites. Personally, I have mixed feelings about getting paid so little for my photos. On the other hand, like Tyson said, it's better to have them up and making you a little bit than buried on hard drives where no one can see them.
