Antelope Island (Warning - mountain biking)

Jenni, Mike and I decided to go out and check out the mountain bike trails on Antelope Island this past weekend. I've been out there a couple of times to take pictures but this was the first time I took a bike. For those of you who don't know, Antelope Island is a big island in the Great Salt Lake. Besides being interesting geologically and geographically, it's also home to pronghorn antelope and bison. I didn't get any antelope or bison photos this time, but I got some beautiful mountain bike and landscape photos. It's a really unique place and absolutely worth visiting if your in Northern Utah.

    Antelope Island Landscape Photos

For those of you who hate pretty landscapes spoiled by mountain bikers, here are a few pure shots

All of these photos were taken with the Canon EOS 7D. The second mtb photo - the really wide-angle one, was taken with the brand new Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 zoom lens.

I don't want to bore with this, but I LOVE UTAH!

That 8mm is awesome. I love my 10-22 but 8!! Very cool shots all. I love our mountain biking here in Western North Carolina but the wide open spaces you all have out west make for such dramatic and awesome photos. I really would like to visit Antelope Island on a good Western Mtn Bike trip.

Thanks for the comments, guys (and gal). The variety here is astounding. One of the things I really liked about that ride is how it could have been Ireland or Scotland or something. It's so green out there right now. Soon it will be brown, dry and over 100 degrees. But for the moment it's not and it was pretty wonderful. We paid for the fun and beauty with tons of bug bites, though. The flies out there are something else. Pure evil.

    Cool shots, PJ.

I went to Antelope Island when I was there a few years ago. It's a really neat place. I wished I'd had my bike with me. How are the trails?
