    Antelope Island

Jen and I took a trip out to Antelope Island last weekend. It was a pretty albeit cold day. Just us and the buffalo. If there are Antelope on the island, I have yet to see any. Enjoy. Scooter.

    I rode with one once.

    Neat!

I have a very vague memory of driving out to Antelope Island with my grandfather. I spent a summer with my grandparents, in Ogden, when I was eight. It was probably then. I've never been back. But I'd like to check it out. Every time I fly over I give it a good hard look. Maybe we could do a little group ride this spring?

I like the pictures. Is there a farm out there? It's a state park, right? Is that fence part of the park headquarters?

    Hi John,
There is the Feilding Garr Ranch on the southeast part of the island, 11 miles south of the visitors center. The fence is part of the ranch. It is a paved road all the way to the ranch, so combining the causeway with the road to the ranch makes for a nice 35ish mile out and back on the road bike. Kinda fun. Also the Split Rock bay loop is a fun ride as I know knobbies are more your thing. I have a couple pics I'll try to find. State park is a big 10-4. If you're ever in town let's head out there. I know Brian would be in. Spring is a good time to go, before the black flies awaken from their long winters nap.

Great shoots Scooter. I especially like the symmetry in the 3rd image.

Looks to me like you'e been dodging these?
There's conspicuous light halo arounf the righr hand side bu the truck headlight and indicator.
Also aorund the body outlines of the buffalo in #3. ad #4.
Or is it in the jpeg compression?
Either way it leaves me favouring #1 as the best in this set.

    Re: Antelope Island

    I LOVE riding Antelope Island!
Albeit has been a few years since I rode there last.
    It is a great ride!
Yes, spring and fall is the best time to ride there. But I did ride there once in January or December.
There are a few good options, my fav is the 14ish mile long one.

    Dodging

I noticed that, too. Funny thing is it doesn't really bother me much. It does make the craft of the image distract a bit from the content. We could argue about whether that's actually a bad thing. In any case, the dodging or masking is apparent. I usually try to have my lightening not get out of the dark areas. It's less obvious when the feathered edges stay within dark content.

Great shots Scooter. That third one, with the three buffalo...quite impressive. It almost looks like a painting, very artistic. I love it!

    Great shots.
