Some of you who live in NY - or around the area might be interested in the Annual New York City Fleet Week - May 20 - 27th.
I've gone for the past 5-6 years and would recommend it to everyone. It's truly an awesome experience - not to mention patriotic. If you're interested in learning more about it, seeing photos of last year and other years - and checking out the schedule - click into the link below.
The Intrepid always participates, but was away for restoration the past few years. It arrived back in port a few months ago in time for this year's Fleet Week. For me it will be exciting to take a tour and see what changes were made.
Among the ships arriving tomorrow in the "Parade of Ships" will be the USS Iwo Jima, USS Roosevelt - and many more. The complete list is on the left side of the link here.
Check out the schedule - there are many exciting events during this week - taking place in many different places. I usually go to Pier 88 in Manhatten.

Here is one of my favorite photos (although not technically the best) taken during Fleet Week in NY. NYC is filled with many service men and women during this week - and the spirit in NY is great!
